The Student Union Building (SUB) at the University of New Mexico acts as a community center to students, staff, and faculty. The Student Union creates a sense of community for the student life population through the many programs and services that take place within the building. The SUB is a leader on campus and provides many high-tech conveniences, essential services, and cultural enrichment to the UNM community.
The Student Union's mission is to maintain the highest standard in support, services, and programming in order to promote a strong sense of community and student life. It is a place where UNM students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests can congregate and socialize in an environment that promotes an appreciation for diversity.
The goals of the Student Union support the University's mission but what truly makes the SUB unique, is the dedication of the student staff who keep it running smoothly. These hardworking students take on a variety of roles, from custodial and facilities management to administrative and operational support. Their commitment ensures that the SUB remains a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone—students, staff, and faculty alike.
For many, working at the SUB is not just a job—it’s an opportunity to develop skills, build lasting friendships, and gain valuable experience that will serve them well in their future careers.
However, many of our student employees face financial challenges that sometimes force them to leave school or seek higher-paying jobs off-campus. This is where we need your help.
The Student Union Student Employee Scholarship was created to provide crucial financial support to these dedicated students. By contributing to this fund, you’re not only showing your appreciation for their hard work, but you’re also helping them stay in school and achieve their academic goals with less financial stress.
